CONGRATULATIONS DONNA TURNER!

Donna is British Columbia’s newest accredited Level One referee. She successfully passed her assessment on October 20 at the Rotary Courts in Comox. She put in many hours of study, preparation, and practice to achieve the level one status, and will be an even greater asset to pickleball in the Comox Valley and British Columbia.

Comox Valley Pickleball Christmas Play Day and Pot Luck – Looking for some entertainment fun!!

December 14, 2023
Comox Community Center

As the rains come to us in earnest and the leaves are quickly falling, we put our lawn furniture away, dust off our indoor court shoes and start to think about a wet winter on the Island. One thing we can look forward to is the annual Comox Valley Pickleball Christmas Play Day and Pot Luck dinner. Our committee has already met to start putting the event together and we are now looking for our players to dust off their Christmas spirit and think about ways to bring even more joy to this fun event.

Can you sing? Put together a dance? Gather some fellow players to write and perform a poem or skit. Want to spoof something pickleball? We want to hear your ideas and thoughts about some fun entertainment for this shindig. If you would like an opportunity to demonstrate your talents in a fun and accepting environment just send us an email – we would love to hear from you. Maybe you’d like to alter the lyrics to a song to celebrate the group that you play with. Remember “Patsy Cline” performing for us last year? She set the bar pretty high, but it sure was entertaining. Think about it – are you the next Gwen Stefani/Blake Shelton duo? Send us an email if you would be interested in sharing some fun and talent with us. Just write to the Pickleball Christmas Organizers at kolmatycki@shaw.ca

Stay tuned for more information about how to get tickets and join the fun.

CVPA Members:

Just a reminder, as mentioned in the original email that contained the CVPA Executive Summary, there has been no decision as to where six courts might be built in Courtenay. The CVPA Executive Summary sent to you earlier this month simply uses Bill Moore Park as an example to highlight layouts, noise considerations and costs, there are a variety of sites being looked at as possible locations. We will keep you all informed as our discussions progress.
